Description
57 years on and the E-Type still retains its original colour schemes, and the correct original 3. 8 E-Type early bucket seats are still in place and commensurate with the cars recorded mileage of 72000. 238 FBU has spent all its life in the North of England and until selling to its last owner in York back in 2012, spent its life in the North West. Having spent its early life in Cheshire, the E-Type moved to Lancashire by 1986, residing in Darwen. The E-Type spent 22 years with one owner in Darwen and changed hands within the town in 2008 before making its way to Yorkshire in 2012 having been subject of a glass out full re-paint that’s documented with a photographic record in the history file.
Since 2012, the E-Type has been owned by a York based pilot who has covered over 3000 faultless miles in the car. The E-Type has primarily been used in good weather of summer months and has attended various North Yorkshire classic car events. During recent ownership the E-Type has been well maintained and we have receipts on file for new ball joint kits, front drop link bars, anti roll bar bushes, link bushes, new radiator, new master cylinder, new outer universal joints, cam cover gaskets and service items including new ignition items. Prior to marketing the E-Type, it has been further enhanced with a brand new carpet set and some detailed trim interior trim improvements.
238 FBU presents very well with a lovely deep, bright paint finish, very good panel gaps, clean, smart chrome work and the interior has lovely patina retaining a large amount of originality. The brand new carpets really lift the interior and the under bonnet is tidy and well presented. The car still shows lots of signs of originality, the boot floor and spare wheel well still covered in a Ziebart type product for protection from several decades ago. On the road the E-Type is impressive with a strong, fit original 3. 8 engine holding excellent oil pressure and the original Moss gearbox is great to use. Handling feels just right having had recent suspension work, steering is tight and the car brakes well. This is a great E-Type to use and enjoy, its not a concours car to be precious with, it’s a really honest, largely original car that likes to be driven and will offer huge satisfaction as its done for its last owner of eight years.
